Koelnmesse GmbH has announced the extension of Chief Operating Officer Oliver Frese’s contract, ensuring his leadership continues through to the end of 2029.

Koelnmesse Secures Leadership Continuity with Oliver Frese

Koelnmesse GmbH has confirmed the extension of Chief Operating Officer Oliver Frese’s contract until December 31, 2029. Frese, who has been serving as COO since 2020, will continue to lead the company for another five years beyond his current term, which ends in 2024.

Frese’s Strategic Contributions

Gerald Böse, CEO of Koelnmesse, praised Frese’s significant contributions over the past few years. “Oliver Frese has skillfully navigated our event portfolio through the challenges of the Covid pandemic and has successfully introduced a new operating model focusing on Sales, Services, and Marketing Communications,” said Böse. He also highlighted Frese’s collaboration with the International division in implementing global portfolio responsibilities in Trade Fair Management. “I am convinced that Koelnmesse will continue to thrive with Oliver Frese as part of our leadership team.”

Support from the Supervisory Board

Henriette Reker, Mayor of Cologne and Chair of the Supervisory Board at Koelnmesse, expressed her support for the extension. “Strengthening the trade fair business in Cologne remains a top priority,” said Reker. “I am delighted that Oliver Frese will continue to play a key role in shaping Koelnmesse’s future as COO, and I look forward to our ongoing successful collaboration.”

A Vision for Future Growth

Oliver Frese, with a background in social sciences and extensive experience in management positions at Deutsche Telekom, EnBW, and Deutsche Messe AG, joined the Management Board of Koelnmesse GmbH in 2020. Frese is committed to developing and expanding highly attractive trade fair formats for Cologne. “My aim is for Koelnmesse events to remain essential dates for the over 50,000 exhibiting companies and to attract new exhibitors and partners,” stated Frese.
